Default Rancher electrical issues

The speedometer has become intermittent on my aunts 03 rancher FE. I assume its a bad connection and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this or knew of any common issues.

I would recommend picking up a service manual from ebay. It has complete wiring diagrams to help trace things such as this and really take the headache out of wiring problems.

I am aware of the usefulness of a service manual, but did not want to have to spend 40 dollars on one just to fix one problem with an atv that I do not own.

It reads 0 most of the time. Yesterday she used it and it was registering, but it usually has not for the last week.

I'll look into it. It works sometimes and not others, so it may be that connection or the wire is starting to break. Thanks.
