Default Is dealing with Polaris always this tough?

Well - I have to say that today is the first time I have regretted my decision to buy a Polaris. Not because of the machine - but because of the service I have received since.

2 Issues:

#1 - I am trying to find out the rate of the spring on a TLD 2004 Predator so I can order the correct spring for my weight etc. I have tried EVERYTHING! I have been trying for 4 days now too! I called Fox Racing Shocks - they said Polaris provides their own spring and Fox is not sure what that is. I have called the dealership which I just spent over $14K with - nothing! I emailed Polaris themselves and was told to call instead. I called Polaris directly to find the specs and was put on hold for over 20 minutes twice today. I called a 3rd time and left a v/m which was never returned. I must admit I am a little frsutrated with this - How hard can it be to get these details for me???

#2 - I bought my kid a Polaris 50 and everytime he turns right it dies. I know it has something to do with the throttle cable but I dont have time to fiddle with it right now and the dealership cant get it in until the end of the week and then it has to stay a "few" days to get fixed.

I realize I am sounding like a whiner here but I own a Motorcycle Part business and I cant believe how bad this service is??!! At this point I am thinking I hsould have just gone with Honda again since I have always received outstading service from them. I am just venting now - sorry.

Anyway - is this considered normal in the Polaris world or am I just having terrible luck?

I feel your pain and as in that does seem like bad service you are looking for a quite rare specification the most dealers are not supplied with and/or not able to get.

Well- in my opinion if they are selling the product they should have the specs, or at least be able to get them right? The part that blows me away is that even after calling the Polaris "tech line" 3 times I still have no answer?? Maybe its a secret or something? ;o)

i know this sounds like a long shot.. but call Nicholas Cycle. They're bases here in essex, iowa and are very knowledgable. Their number is (712) 379-3644 and when you call just tell them your situation(s). i'm sure that if they don't know the answer for you right there they can ask doug and he might know. But, if he doesn't he will more than likely be very happy to help you find your needed info as he is always interested in helping a polaris rider...all riders for that fact.

or you can pop off the thumb throttle cover with or without it running and look inside to make sure the 2 siler pieces are not touching when you turn hard right...(you'll see what i'm talking about when you look inside) cause if they're touchin that tell the quad that somethings wrong with the throttle and it will shut down , like in a case if your throttle broke wide open...the 2 silver pieces will touch and shut down the quad....do yourself a favor and make sure that's not it before you waste anymore time on hold.....

Thanks for the tips - we found out that the reason the little guy's quad died everytime you turn right was indeed very close to the symptom described above, in fact I though tthe same thing. Turns out that the wires were not properly connected at the Factory and although there was a connection - any turning onf then bars to the right cause the wiring to disconnect and kill the quad - as for the Spring Rate info.......still no luck.

Your dealer couldn't have tried too hard, the rates are listed in the parts manual. The front springs are 80/160 lb/in and the rear is 450 lb/in.

unbelievable!!! I finally got a call back and was told that the spring rate was 340lbs??? Now I am really confused! Not to mention that I need spring length as well since just the rate doesnt do me any good without knowing how long the spring is to order a new one.

I really appreciate your help though!!! Thanks so much!
