My Yahama dealer stocks aftermarket filters at $6.15 plus tax. They stock the HIFLO 303 made in England, maybe you can find it in Canada. I carried the HIflo box to the local NAPA auto parts store and they cross referenced the numbers to the NAPA 1358. Also on the HIflo box is listed the following filters it will replace.
Honda 15410-MM5-003
Kawasaki 16097-1059
Yahama 3FV-13440-00
Polaris 308 4963
I have seen posts from other 00 Kodiak owners that are using the NAPA 1358. I have not checked out the Honda or Polaris filters yet to compare them.

I'm at work right now and do not have the OEM Yamaha filter number with me, but I looked at my spare 2000 Kodial OEM filter and your Yamaha part number does not match up ( the first 3 digits are different). I do know that the stock Kodiak filter is unique to the Kodiak for 2000 and my local dealer is bagging me $19.00 each. I love my new Kodiak and although I'm bummed at spending 19 bucks for an oil filter, it's still only ten bucks for cheap insurance until I'm convinced that an aftermarket filter is right. Just my opinion--enjoy your Kodiak.
