Default Swing arm skid/weight savings on pred.....

Hi guys, I just was screwing around on my pred and looking for weight savings......and I came to the axle area(I was polishing too, I polished the axle, it looks pretty sweet)......and I seen the skid plate under the swing arm..........I took it off, and man it weights about 5lbs........I didn't figure it to weight that much. I took off the underbelly one to, and it doesn't weight anything, so I put it back on, because I was afraid of puncturing one of those oil lines under there.

But if you don't need that skid, take it off, lots of dead weight there.

5lbs?...........Thats a lot of plastic. I like that skidplate. I bought a plastic one for my Z and it still ain't as thick as the one that came on my buddies Predator. Btw, I wouldn't recommend riding without some kind of swing arm skid.

I don't know for sure how much it weighs, it seemed really heavy though.......it is very thick. I don't want it on there for weight reasons, why wouldn't you ride without it?? All that isn't protected is my brake rotor and chain now.......I'll put it back on when I race xc next year(although I'd like to make something a bit lighter)......for the dunes though, I can't imagine ever needing it(as long as I know to keep my chain out of the sand).......
