honda 350 FM vs. bombardier outlander?
#2
well heres my take on the two.
Outlander. I ride a outlander 400 allot and this is what i think about it. The acceleration in the 400 class is second to none. It will get right up and go right as it hits the mid rpm marker. Its top speed is 55 and is quick at getting there. The suspesion is very smooth and is good handler at speed on dry ground. When the terrain is slippery i find it will want to push allot. the front end does not wanna stick and doest let you go as fast has better slick cornering atvs.(my prairie 360 will blow away the outy on this one particulat trail that the outy can turn well on). The turning radius is not great but not bad. The suspension in the rear is great. Taking little bumps and jolts can easily be smoothed out with this. nice touch. The diff on the front is good but not the best. A full lock diff(like my prairie) is much better. The outy diff never acctully locks. I dont like the plastic. easly breakable. Good quad. cant say much on reliability. The outy i ride only has 200 miles on it.
reancher. The rancher i have rode is the 350 model. It is really a totally different 4 wheeler compared to the outy. allot more utility based. The suspension is allot more stiff but it handles good. the motor is not as fast as the outy and can only reach 45 to 50 mph. This is a honda. ultra reliable, as you probally know. The rancer at was our second choice on a 4 wheeler but its drum brakes led us to stay with kawasaki. The rancher has good climbing capabilities and good everything but is not the best.
make your choice, youll be happy.

I agree with 'alwaysride'.......a very good honest assement.
I will try to be more direct.......if it's trail riding you want then hands down the Outlander 400 is head and shoulders better. If it's utilitarian purposes you have in mind ......then the Honda reliability factor might outweigh it's lack of performance relative to the Outlander 400. This is not to say that the Outlander has any reliability issues........it's just to say that the Honda reputation for proven reliability is stellar.
Good Luck, Bob
