Default Wheel / suspension travel ???????????????

Is there a difference between wheel travel and suspension travel? The reason I am asking is I am trying to decide if I should switch to long travel suspension. So last night I removed the springs from my shocks to see how much travel I have now. I was a little shocked and dissapointed with the front travel. I have standard travel +2+1 Eyeball Engineering a arms with 16 inch TCS shocks (Tripple Rate SSD), and I only measured 9.25 inches of wheel travel. Which is very dissapointing since the stock spec. is 9.1 inches of travel. The rear seems fine. I have a +2 JD Performance swing arm with an 01 shock rebuilt by TCS (Dual Rate SSD). It measured out at 10.8 which is a definite improvment over the stock spec. of 8.7 inches of travel.

Any input would be appreciated.

Has anyone else measured their wheel travel? If so can you post what suspension you have and the measurements.

Does any one have any specs. on long travel suspension?

Well I will say this. They have held up very well to 1 1/2 years of Nevada desert racing. I did bend one lower ball joint though. Although I would not say I was totally happy with them. The powder coating has not held up very well at all, they seem to scratch very easily like the frame. My stock rims rubbed on the arms when turned all the way left or right, the rim would touch the a arm before the pitman arm would reach the stop. Unless I turned the ball joints out so that there where a bout 1 1/2 to 2 inches of thread showing which makes them weak and there where only about 3 turuns on the tie rod ends, scarey, so I just delt with them rubbing. I have since switched to the Baja rims and they no longer rub. Also I was told to turn the lower ball joints all the way in and adjust the camber with the top ones. But I have to turn the top ones all the way in and turn the lower ones out to acheive 3.5 degrees neg camber. I did have a bent frame at one time but even after I replaced the frame I still had the same problems. I even took my quad into the shop where I purchased them and they had Eyeball come out and look at it (they are located in Las Vegas also) and they said there was nothing wrong with the a arms, although it was not the owner. And I have seen one other set on another Raptor and their rims rubbed on the a arms also. Also they did not have grease zerks in them so I had to drill and install zerks. But like I said they have held up very well and have taken me to several first place finishes in the amatuer class. This is the first pair of aftermarket a arms I have ever owned so I dont really have anything to compare them to, this was just my experience with them.
