Default new quad?

I'm definitely selling the raptor soon and was wondering what quad I should consider getting next? I keep hearing good things about the yfz450, so I am leaning towards that. anyone know if suzuki is coming out with their 450 any time soon? or, what about honda's 450?

I'm looking for a nice trail quad that I could also jump and race. I think torque is more important to me than top speed. I would rather have a quad that can get off the line and out of corners quicker, rather than a quad that can do 80mph. any suggestions and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Jaybird,

I've also heard good things about the yfz450. Though I've never ridden one, I have raced one and they are fairly nice. They are much closer to the ground compared to a raptor, so it will take some getting used to. There has been rumors that they are going to make a true 450cc motor in them, but I wouldn't count on it any time soon. I've also been around the 450R's and wasn't very impressed.

1LeSSRaptor,

I have seen a couple 450r's riding around some of the trials I ride in, and I too am not impressed. one guy said that his engine was already leaking oil. and the other one was piped and jetted and sounded like crap. maybe it was the riders mistakes, but those quads did not make a good first impression with me. I want to ride a yfz450 so bad, but nobody I know has one. it sucks. I'm pretty sure that the ride would convince me to buy it or not. oh well. thanks for the input.

The only 450R that I have ever seen wouldn't stay started. It's not that easy to play around trying to start it with a kickstart either. The bike is pretty fast though, I can't completely dog it, but the cons out weigh the pros.

I will probably end up going with the yfz450. I haven't heard that many problems with them and I also like the red and white colors. it will probably be awhile before I get the money to buy a new one anyway. thanks.

I'd go with the Yamaha definately. I am pretty sure Kawi and Suzuki will have their 450's out as soon as the 450F dirtbikes are out. They are the last to make a atv 450. Cross yer fingers!

If you weren't impressed with the 450r just from seeing it then when you ride a yfz you should be completely unimpressed!! The power is there but it has to be one of the most uncomfortable quads to ride ever!! Anyone who says different is full of shiz. I'll take the power with the comfort.......
