Default HELP ASAP, HUGE issues with local shop, 2000 Banshee

My co-worker has his 2000 Banshee in at a local (very reputable) shop. However, the service there has been quesitonable, and wrong at best.

Here's a simple question, and I think I know the answer, but I need to make sure.

If a clutch burns up, can the transmission lock up, and stay locked up???

I'm thinking no, because once the clutch plates are toast, you'll lose all friction in the clutch, and therefore the clutch should be disengaged permanentely because the clutch can no longer grab or be engaged because the clutch discs are all wasted.

I'm thinking the only way a trasmission can lock up, and stay in a gear is if the tranny grenades or screws up. He was also not able to locate neutral either.

Does this sound like a clutch problem, or a transmission problem?

He's going in there in 30 mins to talk with them, I need to know some advice asap for him so he's clear in how he presents the information to the shop.

The shop performed the intial tune up at a cool $400 before all these issues arose. There was also insufficient oil in the gearcase prior to this happening, which was mentioned on the service ticket now.

Please post some opinions asap,

Thanks!

That cant be a clutch problem. It has to be something with the tranny. Tell him to check the Tranny Shifter Forks!! they can be bent!!

Nice!

Thanks...

so, in your opinion, is there ANY chance at all it could be a tranny problem?

Also, if there was almost a quart of oil, is that enough to keep the bike running, or could the tranny get jacked in about 10 mins?

When they serviced the bike, they only put in a quart of oil, and the oil didn't even register on the dip stick.

Thanks!
