Default 2001 raptor tranmission

I know this is an old topic but I have a buddy who is lookin at a 2001 Raptor. What was the problem they were having in the transmission that year? I cant remember what it was and want to let him know before he makes his mind up. Thanks in advance!

The 2ed gear would go out. It doesnt happen to alot of them, just when it DOES happen, people post it, thats why it seems like so many people have the problem.

The first gear is higher, but not necessarily "too high". The only gear that is really undesireable is the reverse gear on all year models.
