Default WOW!!! Replacement K&N compared to Bolt on K&N

I had a K&N filter that fit in the stock location on my 686 raptor with the air box pretty much completely cut up. i noticed that a little dirt was getting around the filter because alot of the box was gone so i went with a K&N kit that included the billet adaptor with filter. The filter with the kit is almost twice the size of the K&n that fits in the stock location. I had to jet up FIVE sizes because the bike was running lean with the new filter. It seams as if the new filter at 3/4 throttle is the same as full throttle with the old K&N. I think being as the new filter is almost twice the size that much more air is going through my motor. Any one else expereince this or have comments. I am amazed their is that big a difference.
