Default Sparks Pipe Question

Okay, i just got my sparks X-6 complete system and am having a little prob. Where the head pipe connects to the silencer there is a little bit of an air leak, air comming out, is this normal? What can i do to fix this, should i maybe put a clamp on it? Also will this hurt the motor in anyway? Has anyone else had this type of problem, and if so how did you fix it. Thanks ahead of time.

Default Sparks Pipe Question

When I got my pipe, i also got some exhuast silicone. I forgot the name, but it was for high temp exhaust. When ordering my pipe from SParks racing they gave me the stuff.. Bond or Bonded or something like that. I would take back apart and get some kind of heat silicone for exhuast and put a small bead around the header pipe then slide the silencer on. That is what I did. It work good. While putting the silencer on, you can see it will make a bead where the two pipes connect.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried doing that on my 300ex and it never really worked that well. But if that's my last resort then i will do that, but maybe there is something out there that will work better. Thanks again.

a little leak there is normal. just make sure your header is tightened down all the way with the 4 bolts in the head. then, you may be able to slide your silencer a little bit farther forward. also, make sure you use anti seize. this pipe will sieze together and won't come apart if you don't.

Default Sparks Pipe Question

Thanks man, i will see if i can tighten the bolts up a lil bit more. Also, when i took the stock head pipe off one of the exhaust studs came out with the bolt. Bolt was stuck on the stud, but i got it free and when i put the bolts on i used antis eize, so hopefully this wont happen again. How do you keep the studs from comming out when you unbolt the head pipe? And what is the right way to put the studs back in the head. Thanks.

i honestly don't know. yes, use anti seize on the studs too. you don't need to crank the nuts down really tight. snug is fine. just make sure they aren't loose and the header is positioned in the head nice and square. if the studs look pretty bad, i would replace them.
