Default Different Rancher tire/wheel size

I was in my study room with my Rancher manual looking up the tire size for possible upgrades. Noticed that the 2wd and 4wd have different tire sizes:

FE/FM (4x4 model)

24x8-12 - F
24x9-11 - R (rim size 11x7)

TE/TM
24x8x12 - F
25x11-10 R (rim size 10x8.5

From owning 4x4 trucks I know the tire height needs to be the same. But a taller, wider tire on a 2WD seems funny for Honda who seems to like to share as many parts as possible. My Honda parts manual indicates the same so it isn't a typo. Also looks like the bigger tires (or the 2WD) get's the Goodyears. Dirt hooks for the 4x4's.

if u look at the tire rim size though, the rim is different, and honetstly my buddy has one, and the rear look alot wider, not alot higher, not that it matters with 2wd, i have the 4x4 an have the smaller rear, i honestly dont know y we have a smaller tire in the rear, everything is identical on the bikes, i just got some 25 dirt devils for mine for a decent price 25x8x12 and 25x10x11, hope they work out well

I've got a Rancher AT and i was wondering how much weight I could shed by ditching the stock wheels and going with aluminum rims. also, what's a good tire upgrade for trails, snow and light mud?

CBR310,

You could always do what I did with my stock rims and tires when I upgraded. I made a trailer to pull behind my ATV and used the stock rear rims and tires so I can pull it in the woods. With the big tires it rolls over trees and goes through creeks and mud with no problem.

let me ask a question, i never bought atv tires before, nor have i ever shipped tires, my dirt devils came today, and were shrinkwrapped together, they were shrink wrapped so tight that the sidwalls are touching each other on all the tires, i actually had to pry them apart, now they look warped and lop sided, is this normal? will they fix themselves once i mount them on the rims, cus i wasn't planning on mounting them till at least next summer, also is there a manufactor date code on them ? i was looking i can't find it, i also will take pictures if people think this is a bit abnormal please let me know
