TRX 250 questions cam adjust oil change? please help

TRX 250 questions
ok i just bought a 1986 fourtrax for 800 buks in good condition. it has no onwners manual so i was hoping you guys can answer my quistions. what brand and weight of oil do you reccommend in the crankcase for the winter? should i just you plain gear oil in the differentental? how do you adjust the timing chain?

What model Fourtrax. I use Honda 10w30 in the winter and 20w50 in the summer. Make sure that its motorcycle oil and not automotive oil. This advice was given to me by the local dealer.
