Check your petcock for proper function & position. Check vaccum lines to carb & airbox & choke cable/function.

Sup lakotalen, sounds like you either knocked off your pickup tube which brings the gas from the gas tank to the carb and being that it not connected the motor is not getting any gas which is causing it to shut off when you gas it, or you may just want to look over the petcock to make sure everything is properly and lined up right, and just for the hell of it clean out the line from the petcock to the carb then see what happeneds.
