Anybody have a good source for tech specs for a 96 Polaris Sport 400L? Sad story ... we bought a used one and it ran great for the ride home. So we buy a bunch of accessories, like brand new rear rack, taillight, new brakes. First time out upper heater hose came loose, lost all its coolant, and motor froze. Has new tires and racing exhaust. Going to sell as parts or project bike. Since I don't have a user's or repair manual, thought someone here might be able to helpf "fill in the blanks".

 

Dude get a repair manual and rebuild. Don't let it go. Two strokes are easy to work on. Unless you need the case split and new rod and bearings you can definately takle that job. I'm not a mechanic at all but I pulled my 400 motor got it bored new piston and got it back with help from my bro. Its not that bad. I'd hate to see you let that bike go. It sounds like you got it set up the way you want it. the racks and all.

 

yeah get a manual and rebuild it,even if you have to split the cases its still a simple job..

 

I would not be so ready to throw in the towel .

You can pull the motor and have it all redone for between $700 and $1000 depending on what needs done . This includes assembly and reassembly of the engine . All you have to do is bolt it back in .
