Is this a good price for a 400ex

My friend is looking at a 400ex and it's a 02 i think it had a White bros pipe, propeg nerf bars, and mud sharks tires brand new. Over all the body is beat and there is a lot of rust like on the axle, a-arms so fourth, the key and all is gone and the White bros pipe is pretty bent and ****. He want $1,800 for it right now it's in my friends garage in pieces now, the carb needed some cleaning and stuff. But do you think it a good deal or not. My friend plans on putting new pipe and painting the frame after we sand her down and fixing anything needed. He will probably put about $300-400 into it in repairs.

I would at least try throwing out a lower number like pendejo said.. There are not a lot of people that have the know how or desire to fix up a quad that's trashed, so he might just take it. That'd give you an extra $300 to buy a pipe and then you'd get some equity for your labor efforts. Even at $1800 it's not a bad deal though.

I dont know if i would i got my 96 300ex for 850 and the guy told me all it needed was a headgasket, well it turns out it was blown up and now i am spending more money on it than i wanted to. so think before u buy it. i will nevr buy anything that doesnt run. I would not take the guys word for it either. Just make sure ya her it run dont fall into the trap i did. if it does it would be a goods deal.

Well one of my friend is selling the 400ex and my other friend is buying it. Right now the quad is already at his house but all taken apart. It ran fine before it was taken apart and he checked the compression on it and it was still fine. It ran strong when it was up and running. I was talking to my friend today and he said that he'll probably offer he like $1,700 for the 400ex and we'll see what happens. I mean with a little work this quad is going to look pretty sweet.
