Default Magnum 425 performance parts?

Anybody tried a Aaen 500 Ho cam and 36mm flatside carb on a 425? Looking at rebuilding the motor and would like to add more performance without sacrificing reliability. Would boring it out with a higher comp. piston be beneficial or is that asking for trouble? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I currently have a k&n,Supertrapp Ids2, And white primary. Thanks in advance.

I had a '96 Magnum and thought it was awesome. I was thinking about modifying it at one time too but never got around to it. Unfortunately I cannot give you any specifcs on what mod is best and how much 'building' the engine can take. I have nothing to back this up, but I would think you could bump up the compression, get a slightly more aggressive cam, and bore it out a bit. As long as you didn't go wild you would probably be OK. Not sure how much you could expect to gain... just my opinion.

I haven't done it but from what I see its going to product most of is power up high in the rpm, low end torque is probably going to suffer some. It depends on how you run your quad. Probably wouldn't be good for hunting but great for open trails.

Just IMO
