04.5 700 "auto" 4X4
#1
Well the easiest way to explain it is this,
My 700 Sportsman (04.5 carb) has about 1500 miles on it and 200 hours. It has had all it’s services done on time and is not abused.
This is what happens. I will have it in two (2)-wheel drive and if I am on ice and hit the gas as soon as the tires start really spinning the 4x4 engages!!!!! With a bang I might add!
I put it in 4x4 and that works fine? Turn it off and it is definitely off.
The dealer tells me the magnets spinning in the front-end fast will cause it to engage even in 2-wheel drive? I also have a second same 04.5 700 non EFI with only 50 hours on it. I can sit on the ice and spin the rears till the cows come home and the front won’t kick in unless I switch on the 4X4?
Any ideas!

you may need to change the hub fluid in the front diff case... there is very little so it collects water and dirt easily.. try this its real cheap, i would recommend polaris premimum drive hub fluid or something very similar like an ATF. if this doesnt work you could have a magnitized plate in your hub causing it to engage, then your gonna need your dealer to help ya out

Just had a complete service done, all fluids................ Low or Hi range, on ice get the back tires spinning 20 MPH or more before the machine is moving more then say 5 MPH and the front end engages! I was on glare ice today with "fresh" fluids and put the brakes on and leaned kind of forward just to get the tires to break free. Well they did...... and the front end kicks in?????? Like I said high or low if I get the back tires going more then say 15 MPH faster then the front bang AWD comes on!
I was going into turns trying to power slide around and bang the front end would kick on again?
Any one?
