Default Does elevation change affect my jetting that much?

Hey guys, I am running a piped and jetted raptor. My jetting is setup for the desert I am running a 160 main jet and the other is 155. I normally ride in the desert or at sea level. My question is this....I went riding today at a place called corral canyon near san diego, the elevation is about 3000 or 4000 above sea level. It was cold in the morning and my bike was back firing a lot when i let off the gas and just seemed to not be running all that great. I adjusted my idle screw and it helped somewhat. I want to know if i should have adjusted my fuel screw to run leaner for that change in elevation? would that have stopped the backfires? It runs perfect in the desert or at sea level.....any help appreciated.....

yeah from sea level to 3000 ft is the first jetting bracket, after that you have to lean your bike out, the dynojet instructions for my bike say you have to lean out the needle 1 notch for over 5000 ft. Air temp could have alot to do with that too, it was probably colder up in the mountains then in the desert so that too would affect your jetting.

It was probably backfiring because it was lean from being cold out, turning the screws out and making it a little richer should have been the thing to do. Like Veloci said 0 to 3000' should be fine and the raptor seems to like a rich mixture anyway. I've rode mine from 0 to 6000 without rejetting.
