Ds wont start when cold!!! HELP
#1
I have a 2000 ds w/ rwr cdi, alba full pipe, k&n filter, jets.... I try to start it after a couple days in the cold and it wont start. Its like the battery wont turn it over, or when we go ride (this past weekend) i tryed to start it both mornings ,cold, and had to pull start it? It has a stock gel battery and I bought it about a year ago. I was thinking that maybe it just wont turn it over since i added the mods. it will start after it gets warmed up though.... but when it gets cold again it wont? any recomendations or help would save some embaresment and time.. thanks

Just to clarify. Is the battery capable of turning the machine over? If not, warm the battery up by bringing it in and charging. If the machine is turning over and not starting, try opening the air/idle screw up 1/4 turn to richen. You may need to have a bigger pilot jet as some have had to go to.

You most likely need to adjust the valves.
My 2000 is the same way.
Won't start in the morning when the bike is cold but after that, it starts fine the rest of the day.
It's always been a valve adjustment problem.

yes it could be valve adjust, but i ride alot in the cold and the only way i can start mine if left outside to long in the cold is to pull off the air filter and hold hand over mouth of carb giving it more fuel. the enrichener in todays carb don't give it enough fuel cold!! i know this works been there many times. good luck.
