Default cdi troubles

I have a Polaris Sportsman 500. I have no spark during cranking. It sparks once when start switch is released. It acts like the ignition is being grounded by a safety device. Does anyone have troubleshooting expertise on Polaris cdi ignitions?

Default cdi troubles

Thanks, I read the thread. I have a fairly new battery. While cranking I did have a battery charger connected. I've also pulled the hand crank and still have no spark. During cranking I have about 40 v on two of the wires comming from the stator and about the same on the wire going to the coil. The frequency on the wire feeding the coil is about 34Hz. I think something is grounding me out, just don't know what. I don't what the readings should be on the different wires or how the backup module or voltage reg affects the ignition.
