Polaris 2stroke oil substitute
#1
I will pick up a 1997 polaris 400 sportsman tomorrow. There is no Polaris dealer withen 40 miles of me. Want to change coolant, counterbalence oil, hub oils and oil in diff and trans. Also what type of 2cycle oil can I use. What do I use for a chain lube. My main consern is coolant and hubs.
I will order a Shop manual and owners manual tomorrow and may be able to go too a dealer later this month. 70 hour work week is rough on a man.

I used Polaris full syn, then I changed to klotz full syn......I know some people use amsoil. When I changed the oil in my hubs I used Polaris hub oil. I'm sure they are some other type you can use also. I also use Bel-Ray chain lube.

Yes, Amsoil or Klotz 2 stroke oil, Mobil 1 ATF for the hubs, any coolant, not sure what to use in trans, I changed mine with the Polaris stuff. Chain lube, just use any decent chain lube meant for O-ring chains.
You can always order stuff from your dealer and have them ship it to you if you are too busy to head out and get it.
