Default Quiet 2 stroke silencer

Im asking this for a friend who is looking for a new silencer for his 400. I think his old one is from hotseat. He took it off and put his stock one back on because it got way too loud for him. Does anyone know who makes the "lesser loud" silencer?
Also would re-packing it help tone it back down?

I talked to Rick about this, because I hate loud pipes. He said to continue with my stock muffles, that it makes just a very little performance difference. Its louder than stock, but a lot quiter than many you can get. Sucks that is so heavy, but oh well, I am willing to trade a little weight and a little less power for a quieter ride.

If it is the older HOT SEAT silencer, it is not repackable, it is a baffled silencer much like the factory unit.

The new hot seat silencer is supposed to be a nice silencer, I would also look into the HPD MTQ silencer. I believe they are about the quietest aftermarket silencers out for the 400. Nothing will be as good as the factory unit. On my 2000 model I still run the factory silencer with my HPD Trail pipe.
The FMF turbine Core II is not bad, atleast while it has a fresh repack.
