SELLS IN USA OF ATV
#3
Good question. And one that I don't think you will find on any manufacturers website. I can only speak for what I've seen in dune and desert riding in California and Oregon. My best guess is as follows:
Honda and Yamaha are very close, amounting to a total between them of about 70% of the quads I see. I would probaly give Yamaha the edge now with the YFZ's popularity ,so lets say 37% Yami and 33% Honda.
Next is probably Suzuki and Kawasaki at about 15% between them.
Bombadier would have to be next at around 8% of the market. Now until I owned a Bombardier, I will have to admit that out of about 100 quads I saw maybe 1 of them was a DS650. But now that I own one, I see a lot more. At Dumont dunes for example, I counted about a dozen shooting comp hill while I was there.
Polaris is next with around 5% of the total.
Its been awhile since I've seen one but occasionaly I see a cannondale so I'll give them the last 2% of the pie.
Now I'd like to here whats being ridden back east.

Someone had posted sales numbers from last year in a thread in the polaris forum. The title is something like "why does everyone hate polaris?". The numbers given there did not correlate with what was just posted here. But I have no information as to the sources of this info.

When you include the utility quads, Polaris does REALLY well last I heard. I think SJRDKevlar was really looking at mostly sport quads that you see out here in Cali, and he is probably not too far off in his example (IE: what he sees at dumont etc.) Though I'm sure there are a measurable amount of Predators out there, by now probably as many or more Predators than Cannondales.
