Sportsman 800 top speed

I find this hard to believe but atv magazine says 55 for the 800 and 56 for the Brute 750. I just read it quick. It could have a limit to how far they travelled.

Oh it'll do over 55MPH, I've been on one doing 65MPH on the speedo and it was still pulling. I didn't have a long enough place to fully top it out. However I will say that after about 50MPH the power drops off a bit, but all quads to this.

I went to my dealer the other day and they threw me the keys to the Polaris 800 EFI and the King Quad 700 EFI. I said NO I CAN'T AFFORD THIS. The sales man (friend of mine) said I don't care, you have to ride these, outside right now. So on the 800 I go, and all I can say is WOOOO MAMA.
If these quads top out at 55 mph I will eat my shorts, my 500 HO will do 55 or better. The 800 feels like it will do 70 easy, it accelerates like it been shot out of a cannon. Wheelies on demand, idles at 1150 rpm and engages at 1200, soo smooth and the engine is super quiet.
I am now jealous of people who own them.
One day I will give my 500 HO to my girlfriend and buy a new one. But not for many moons.

Yeh, I herd them things have a lot of torque. I would be saving up for 1, but im not to crazy about the awd it has. I think start saving up and get another manufactures 800 when it comes out.

The AWD on the polaris ATV's is a really nice system, its super smooth, fast to engage and ALL 4 Wheels chew, and you can still steer when all 4 wheels are locked together. The only draw back is getting use to the 2 wheel engine braking, which is fine for most driving but the real steep low traction downhill decents will require some throttle and brake modulation, and in situations like that I prefer to use high range engine braking because it is less agressive and less chance of locking the rear tires up. I use to dislike the fact that the rear tires have to slip before the fronts would engage but this is not noticable, the rear tire BARELY slips before the fronts engage, its that fast, and you feel nothing.
I like the polaris the best mainly because it seems to fit me better than anyother quad, when I ride it I feel like I am on my couch. I haven't ridden a Honda, or an Arctic Cat but the yamaha fits pretty good, suzuki feels really different for me.
All manufacturers make good quads and whatever you pick you will probably think its the best quad on the market, but so will the guy riding beside you on his quad. Just get the one that fits, and realize there is always a compromise.
