I have an 87 trx 350D with a horrible turing radius when turning to the left. It takes almost the whole front yard to make a left hand turn. The right turn is acceptable. When turning to the left the atv front wheels turn and the bike just tries to go straight. Is this normal or is there an issue I dont know about. Also when the atv is parked the front wheels seem to be toe out (with the tops closer together than the bottom of the tires.

 

Anyone Have any thoughts is this normal please help!!!!!!

 

Hello jmirus. It does not sound normal. Although I am not personally familiar with your quad, and I couldn't find it at Ronnies. But I'll take a stab at it. Maybe that will encourage others to chime in. A couple things I can think of could cause this. Uneven spring forces on the two front wheels caused by bad springs or uneven adjustment. Bent frame. Rear swing arm bent. Front end alignment uneven between the two front wheels.

Thanks for the reply At least now I have some idea what could be wronge and a good place to start.

 

I think the key point is that anything that will cause an unequal loading on the front tires can cause your steering to misbehave as you have described. Also, clearly front end alignment. Probably not so much toe or caster, but maybe a camber problem. It might help also if I knew more about your quad.
