Need to sell my DS... Help me decide how much its worth..
#1
I hate to do it. But I don't ride it enough anymore to justify keeping it. I know I have atleast 11k if not more invested in this quad. Im just wondering what a fair selling price would be. I have an idea in my head, but I figured I would get some opinions. There is a guy coming tommorow to look at it and I don't want to feel like i screwed him over, yet don't want to feel like Im screwing myself...

Wow, I wish I lived closer to you. I'll tell you how much I paid if you tell me what you want. Maybe I'll fly out and drive it home. I have a 2000 with stage 1 kit and a set of brand new paddles and rims. I don't think it was even brokin in when I bought it for $4K. I knew the owners and it was barely ridden.

I bought my bone stock DS for 3, but I have had problems. I'm thinking you could probably sell in the 4500-6000 range. You have a lot of nice stuff. Budman, you live really close to me, though!

monkeyinajar, gotta ask about that name. Bullhead/Laughlin is booming. Looking for real estate in that area. Havasu is getting pricey for everyone. Hope your DS problems aren't severe. I hear the motors are bullet proof. I just ordered a tach because I didn't know the revs without the rev limiter. Knock on wood (or rocks around here) that I haven't had any problems. See you on the river.

Here is the bottom line.....
Kelly Blue book on a 2000 is $3840. The base line for add-on improvements is .02 cents on the dollar which is based on what the motorcycle industry uses. So if you put in $1000 dollars in aftermarket improvements you can add $200. to the base cost of $3840 which would bring you to $4040.00. Remember, it is only worth what someone else is willing to pay.......
Good luck!
$11,000 X .2 = $2,200

I appreciate the feedback guys. I cant see myself taking any less than $4000-$4500 for it. I would probably let it sit in the garage for another year unriden before I did that. If I don't work out a deal with this guy, do you think ebay would pull a good price?
I don't even know why I wanna sell it. My luck would have it where as soon as its gone im gonna have all the time in the world to ride it...

E-bay is a buyers market. I would not recommend selling it there. I had a Jeep Wrangler with more then $15,000 in extras and custom work and the highest bid I got was $6000. Your better off selling it with "ATV trader" or some similar magazine type advertisement. Parting it out by restoring it to stock and selling the up-grades would probably reap you more $$ but not when you factor in the labor to do so.....
