Default Trade 03 Praire for 750i

Been lurking for some time...just joined! Great site!

I have a 03 Praire 650 which I'm about to trade in tomorrow, or maybe not. Getting cold feet!!! Dealer agreed to my quad and $3150 as trade for new 05 750i. I am original owner, about 350 miles, runs great, etc. Praire comes with winch and plow (I am keeping my tires). See pic:

Sound like a good deal?

Should I even do this, or keep the Praire for a while?

Other then the itch to have the latest and greatest, I like the IFS suspension and clearance of the BF. Added power is nice when riding with the guys. Really use quad for snow plowing, ice fishing, fun riding. I do some rock crawling at Paragon, PA (great place to ride by the way) and upstate in the Adirondacks. It seems I hit/scrape every rock with the Praire though....very poor clearance.

Signed.....

i think you should keep the prairie for awhile. that thing looks immaculate. the price you gave plus trade looks to be about right but you only got 350 miles on it. its like brand new. if you like you r prairie i would stick with it. dont get me wrong i love my brute and would trade it for nothing. but yours is like new and it is not far off in power from the brute. possibly give it awhile see what changes are made if any. i have had no probs with mine other than the change of the lean needle in front carb other than that ive been extremely happy. if you dont mind spending the 3000$ and giving away your prairie than do it. you wont be disappointed if you do. i know this probably only confused you more. oh i to go to paragon once in awhile, been going to tower city lately bought a membership there. its only 25 mins west of paragon. its paragon times ten in the land size. its right near Rausch Creek Racing. good luck with your decision. which you make will be a good one.

Keep your prairie. I just went through all the same questions as you. The brute is a great quad but you would basicly be giving your prairie away and as soon as you leave the lot with your new brute you will loose your a$$ on it as well. If its performance you want the $3000 you save by not buying the new one would be enough to have more performance than you could ever need. Along with extra wheels tires, ect.

I decided I wanted a change as well so I just did alot of mods and ordered all new team green plastic so it looks new. I just dont have a new payment and its faster than any STOCK utility out there.

If you want an IRS quad though the brute is the way to go. I would not trade your prairie with that low milelage for $3150 though. In fact If you were closer I would buy it for $3200 and I dont even need one .

Thanks for your input.

I've decided to keep the P650 and do some mods with the money saved. Ordered a highlifter lift and cdi unit. Thinking about an exhaust....not sure on that though. Need to do some more reading.

I'd Highly recommend the mods in my signature or similar. Lift kit is good for big Tires not improving ride quality
Visit Nyrocs or Kissodeath website for other performance options & general maintenance

Your Prairie is worth about $4700 plus $400~ for winch and plow = $5100~ (if you sell it yourself). That's what the dealer is going to get for it if you trade it in, after he gives you about $3200 for it.

That leaves you paying 5100 + 3150 = $8250 + tax for the 750. Pretty steep. I suggest good skid plates and keeping what you know is not a lemon or has problems.

P.S. There is some doubt as to gain from an exhaust mod on a Prairie.

Keep the Prairie for sure. I traded one of my 650's for a brute and the guy gave me 4200 for a stock 02 red Prairie with 1100 miles on it and 589's. Yours is worth way more than what he is offering you. I still love riding my Prairie, really love that bike. I dig the SRA though. Do the mods and you get a mean machine, V-twin, all the power, and all the play.
