Default 2005 Foreman Gearing

I have found that the 2005 Foreman is geared very low. I find that most of the time I start in second or third gear. I was wondering if anyone else thought this too. Outside of that I really like this machine. It has everything I wanted and will do everything I want.

Sounds like they engineered it for some taller tires???

The Foreman has no low range so the very low 1st gear would be very handy with heavy towing and hauling. This could be reason Honda went with such a low 1st gear even though not much use in the trails.

Most of the time we start out in second gear on our Rancher too. I look at it like the 4-speed in our older pickup with first gear being "granny" gear.

Congrats on the '05 foreman. Does it have enough power to wheelie from a dead stop in 1st or 2nd gear. My rancher, which I am looking to replace, will only lift them a few inches. I'm looking for a utility machine that will be fun to ride also...wheelies, sliding around turns...you know what I mean. The last thing I want is a utility machine thats like a dump truck!!! Thanks for the reply.
