Default 1st Time Oil Change - Thanks

Thanks to everyone that has posted about oil changes in the past, I was able to use that info and it was helpful. What was especially helpful was the posts about making a freakin' mess during the process. I've never had to use 3 rags, simple green, engine degreaser, and a half dozen tools/funnels to do a quad oil change but I survived I would've though it was me doing something dumb if it wasn't for the previous posts. One thing is for sure, the front end of the quad won't be getting rusty anytime soon! I must say, that is a messed up design from a maintenance standpoint, if you believe in poetic justice the engineers on that mill are probably suffering from herpes right now (or worse).

Some observations:

I got almost 4 quarts of oil out of the beast. That's a lot of oil, which to me is a good thing to be carrying around. I was used to either the Z400 or even worse the CRF 450 which only used 750cc's of oil. On the CRF 1 tank of gas was enough to whip, beat, mutilate, and punish the engine oil. I can see this quad going some good hours before it needs to be dumped. I probably will do some oil analysis in the future to establish a base line for that.

The screen inside the oil tank did have a bit of debris on it so I'm glad folks had mentioned that it was there and should be checked.

Had to go to the dealer today and get an OEM oil filter because Scott's has issues getting folks their product now. It was 10 days from the time of internet ordering it before I got a notice they'd finally shipped the filter. Note: I think this is a problem with their web based sales, I would order by phone if I had to do it again.

Dumped 3.75 qts of Amsoil 10-40 in her, bliped the starter 4-5 times to prime it up (another helpful post), and she fired right up with no oil light issues
