i was cleaning my z400 and then i changed the oil. when i took the air filter off there was oil in the filter and the air filter box. what causes that to happen.

 

If you have stood it on end then that will do it. When you stand it up on end oil is able to travel through the breather hose and then into the box.

 

Was it engine oil? or clear oil?

It could have been the airfilter oil. any extra oil that was on the airfilter when it was oiled, gravity will take in effect, and will cause the oil to collect at the bottom of the filter, and drip off into the filter box.

the oil is clear i think. i tried to squeeze some on my hand and it appeared clear

 

In that case then it is probably just excess airfilter oil. If it was engine oil then it would just be overflow from the breather hose. Either way it is nothing too serious.

 

Did you stand it up nick? Cause Ive heard of that happening also.

 

no ryan i didnt stand it up i changed the oil and then i noticed it when i took the filter off.
