500 vs 400 scramblers?
#2
Both have around the same top speed of around 65-68mph. The 400 can be built to handle 90+hp. The 500ho is very reliable with lots of torque and quiet. For hunting i would go with the 500ho. If it is something that you want to mod to make it fast then the 400 would be your best bet.

Ditto what 2many said. The 2stroke is quicker and probably faster hands down, but I would opt for the 4stroke for crawling around. I have a plow on my 400 and it worked way better than I expected. The 400 gets around gnarly and slow stuff very well, though.

the 400 can be built up more than the 500. With the right mods the 400 will eat the 500 for lunch. But stock the 500 is better. If you want a bike to hunt with then you need to look at the sportsman. But for performance the scrambler 400 with a good clutch kit, pipe and jets will eat most 500's and even 600's alive.
