Default Intalling spring spacers

I know this topic was just on recently, but I was hoping someone could tell me how difficult it will be to install them. I will have the spacers made from aluminum and have a 2" ID and 3" OD. This gives me a 1/2 " wall. I will need to remove the strut, but do I need any special tools to do this? I am also unsure what height size to go with, 1", 1.5", or 2"?????????? I have the glacier Plow and want to stop the sagging, but I don't really want to change the angle of my CVs and cause more wear on my quad. Can anyone help me on this one? Thanks so much.

Silverbullet2005 is the one that put the post on the spring spacers, he put in 2" spacers, I would contact him for advice.

You need strut spring compressors to compress the springs for the install.....you can rent them at your local auto parts store....

hello all, just for your information the 3" od is too big. I made my first set out of the 3" and it was to big. I used 2 1/2" od with a 2" id. for a 1/4" thick spacer on my new design. you will need to buy/rent a spring compressor from the local parts store. autozone carries them as a loan a tool which you pay for up front then get a full refund when it's returned. they are a bit hard to use though cuz they are for car springs, I recommend going to harbor freight and buying their strut spring compressor for $7.99 it will work great.

I installed 2" spacers on my 2004 700EFI, I went with the 2" spacers because of adding the winch/glacier plow and mostly to clear the 27" tires for rubbing reasons. you can look at my picture gallery to get an idea. PM me if you need further assistance.

A buddy of mine will be making them 2.5" OD by 2" ID by 1.5" HT. They will be made from Aluminum stock. They will be on the fronts only. The Coil Spring Compressor tool from Harbor Freight is item # is 3980-3VGA. It is currently selling for $10.99 +S/H. That is still the best price I have found. Two auto stores quoted me $30 and $57 respectively. That's crazy for a couple pieces of allthread and some hooks. I may have my buddy make these too. He has the tools and the knowhow to do most anything. Anything I've asked him to do.

I installed the spacers on the front only, to be honest I don't know if you can put them on the back. may want to ask Moosehunter that one. I got my strut spring compressors at my local harbor freight store, they always have instore specials and this month they have the compressors for $7.99, snap-on tools sells a set that looks just like them for $50

the item number on my strut spring compressor package is 03980. I bought my own compressor after using the loan-a-tool from autozone because the one I used from autozone was mainly for an automotive sized spring and was very difficult to use on the sportsman springs. I ended up using those along with those small clamp style compressor/lifter style ones that work with two bolts/nuts.
