Default K&N filter

There is a thin foam filter under the dry filter that catch some of the fine dust before it gets to the stock paper filter.

The question is do I use the original foam filter with the new K&N filter or just throw out the foam?

Loose the foam.......just make sure you have oiled your K&N.......you might also want to mod your airbox soon too(cut holes in the back of it, like the one in my pics page)...........

The K&N instructions it says to discard the foam filter when using the K&N.

I would think the foam could wick away oil from the filter. You may want to look into a K&N pre-filter.

Nope...........no prefilter for a drop in like that.........If you decide to drill the holes in the back of the airbox though, you can prefilter those........
