ATV Trailer for Car
#1
Does anyone have a suggestion for a two ATV trailer that I could pull behind a mid size car? If I can't find a resonable trailer for this, I might trade the car in for a truck. I'm serious about riding my Raptor a LOT.

You probably won't be able to pull two quads behind your car. A trailer that big would weigh 800 to 1,000 lbs. Then you would have approximately 800lbs of quads. That is almost 2,000 lbs.
I don't know what kind of car you drive, but I bet it won't pull that. I pull mine with my wife's Maxima. The owner's manual says it shouldn't pull over 1,000 lbs. I pull a 5 by 8 foot trailer (it will only haul one quad) and it weighs approximately 600 lbs. When I add my 400ex(soon to be Raptor), gas cans, my tongue box and gear I am probably around 1,200 lbs.
I would just check out your owner's manual before you purchase a trailer. The 5 by 8 foot trailer is perfect for one. Good luck in your search.

Actually, I have a Maxima also. So you don't have any problems pulling the one atv? Hmmm...perhaps I need the truck and a trailer combo. Or I could pull one and strap one to the roof. :]
Thanks for your advice.

If you pull it with the Maxima, you must remember to take off the overdrive. If you pull it too many times with the overdrive on, you will be getting a new transmision. My boss never took his overdrive off and his transmission went out. However, I have had no problem. You can feel that the overdrive needs to come off so it is no big deal.
The Maxima pulls one just fine. I even have a big ramp on my trailer. I am thinking about a truck too, however I just don't want to give up my sports car and my wife won't drive a truck. Oh well, let me know if the roof thing works out.

Ok, a Polaris guy will stick his nose in the Yamaha forum
. I have a 93 Regal 3.8 and pull a Triton SL8. (http://www.tritontrailers.com/sl8.html)
I love the trailer! It's not much of a problem to tow with one quad but if I stick two on it I can really tell. No way would I tow a long distance fully loaded. There are really steep hills around here though. So that doesn't help much...

I Do my pulling with a 8x10 snowmobile trailer behind an isuzu amigo....I know not a car...But it only has a 2.6l 2wd engine in it....as long as I turn off the overdrive, I don't have a problem with 2 quads.
But the Isuzu lets me know when I get to steep hills.

I used to tow my Yamaha Exciter with my 1990 Nissan Sentra everyone used ot get a kick out of me pulling up to unload when everyone had full size trucks to pull one snowmobile and i had my 7300 dollar Sentra. it would pull two but wow, it was hard and i only tried it a couple times. now i have a Pathfinder i have towed 4 atv's and 5 people in the truck with no trouble. If you have a Maxima you must like Nissans? the new Xterra would do the trick or the 4 door Frontier which is what i want next 4 doors and yellow and an SE.
