Any 05 700EFI's With Bad Water Pump Seals???
#1
Anyone having problems with leaking seals on the 05 700efi water pump?
I only have 15 hours on the machine, and after it sits for a few days it starts to leak
a small amount of coolant. Start it up and the leaking stops. The hose clamps are all tight so
I'm at a loss.
Thanks.

Yep, i have had mine in twice for the water pump seal and it only had 125 miles the first time and 218 the next. I now have 354 and i noticed a leak again, except this time it was coming from the hose that hooks to the top of the pump, i tightend the crap out of it and no more leaks. I f i were you i would tighten that hose clamp again and see if this helps!!

I had to tighten up the hose clamp too and it did leak sometimes after I tightened it up. Really tightened up the clamp and after that it has never leaked. I agree with kodiakkid, check the clamp again and when you see a puddle rub your finger by the connection and see if that is where it is leaking. I'm sure that's your problem.

Thanks for the information, I took it back to the dealer today it's under warranty so they
can deal with it. Not to mention this way it generates a paper trail.

My '05 700 EFI is leaking coolant at the water pump weep hole as well. I bought the bike new and from the dealer the coolant hose at the pump was leaking. Tightened it up and all was well until about 350 miles on the bike. Now, I've got the weeping water pump. I also checked the oil and it is a little higher than normal, but does not show any water contamination. Warranty would cover the repair, but I'm in a hurry so probably fix it myself. Couple of other things I noticed on the bike from new was a loose rear diff' drain plug(slight leak), hairline crack in weld on lower rear A-arm to frame mount, and a broke bolt on foot brake mount bracket. Bike has been pretty good so far, only had to replace a front cv boot.
