Warn customer service can kiss my ...
#1
I mensioned yesterday that I had a winch cable snap on my warn 2.5ci winch while plowing. the winch is only 4 months old by the way. I contacted Warn customer service and let them know that my cable snapped and the guy told me that there is nothing he can do. My dealer replaced the cable for me for free but I wanted to see what Warn customer service would do for me. He told me that the winch itself has a 1yr. warranty but the cable has no warranty. he then told me that the cable is a wear item and could prematurely snap at any time whether it be due to correct use or incorrect usage. I told him that I think Warn should replace the cable anyhow because it's only 4 months old and they are suppose to be a huge company. I also told him that if he wouldn't do anything for me then Warn has lost a customer because I will never purchase another Warn product again and I mean it. Even though my dealer replaced the cable for me it upsets me to see a huge company such as warn won't stand behind their products even if it is a cable which is not suppose to be under warranty because if the dealer hadn't done me right then I would have had to rely on Warn customer service. Warn customer service can kiss my ... cuz I will never purchase anything with a warn label on it ever again. can anyone say Ramsey!!!

you and me both Jaggers, wonder how they would treat me if the winch burned up within a year-would they fix it or replace it I wonder. Ramsey winches come with a limited lifetime warranty, I think I may even decide to sell my warn winch and get it the heck off my quad to go with the Ramsey winches. lesteratv.com has the Ramsey winches with the roller fairlead with handle bar mount for $259 and the same kit with the additional wireless remote for $289

I had my warn winch break (i hit a tree head on) ... sent it in for repair and got a new cable with the fix. I had an great customer service ... maybe their would have replaced it if you sent it in, so they can confirm the serial number?

Hi 'bullet....
I'm really sorry to hear Warn didn't help you out. And I am a bit surprised with that. I've been running Warn products on my offroad vehicles as long as I can remember and never had a lick of trouble with warranty work or replacement. They even swapped out one of their "big daddy" 9000 pound winches for me one time when a motor failed. Even shipped it overnight. That being said, you'd think with something as "small" as an ATV winch cable, it would be just good P.R. to do something for you. Hmmmm.... Does kind of make you wonder...
I still feel they make the best winch out there, and will continue to use their products until something like that happens to me. So if you really want to get rid of your 2.5ci, drop me a P.M. and I'll make it disappear for you.

I guess it would come down to how the service rep handled themselves. If he was an *** to you, then I would be pissed too. To start the conversation, he should have asked you how it snapped. Then went through the warranty scenario. As many people snap their cables using them plowing, I wouldn't blame Warn for not replacing them as the cables don't seem to handle that angle and pressure, no matter who makes them.
Sounds like the guy didn't even listen to what you had to say or ask the right questions.

Bullet, did you happen to tell the rep. that the dealer, had already replaced the cable When, he told you Warn would do nothing? I too, would think their customer service would ob been better.

i think you are taking this one too seriously. If you were plowing with it did you shorten it down so that its not constantly rolling over itself? Plus have fun with some other low quality winch . How are they supposed to know if you abused it or not....if they just started sending free cables out to everyone who broke one...... plus you did get a free one...ya whiner... . If you want your cable to be there for when getting home depends on it ... cut off about 2 to 3 foot section and set that up as your plowing piece . Save the rest of your cable for off road situations. I cut my cable down to 25 feet and I carry 2 75' peices of 3000 lb webbing . I found that it was a pain to keep it all nice on the spool and when you did use it for a short pull the rest of the cable was getting squished....and if it was over lapped anywhere it crimped it. Plus....you will get the exact same cable on that inferior brand name winch........

Straight from their limited lifetime warranty (which if you read is VERY limited):
"New cable assemblies are warranted against defects in workmanship and materials. No warranty applies after initial use."
Granted that one section just applies to their cables, but after a first use if your cable snaps you are SOL with Ramsey also. Another thing to note is the Ramsey and the Warn in the past (along with a few other brands) are the same winch with different branding. For a while there the 2000 lb winch was sold by about 4 different companies under different names. From a quick look at their sites, it appears as if nothing has changed and they are the same basic winches.
