Default adjusting the valve on a 1985 moto 4 80cc quad

i have came to the conclusion that the valve needs adjusting and i have no idea how to do this..the quad is hard to get started when it is cold but once you finally get it going and warmed up it runs good.it had a bent valve when i bought it .the screw that holds the butterfly flap on the carb came out and went through the intake and bent it .new valve and cleaned the carb last summer then stored it till now..any tips help appreciated.. runs well just hard to get initially started.. thanks

From what I've seen with these little lay over motors is the valves will be held open just enough to loose some compression and be hard to start. I do not remember what the valve lash is suppose to be, but you will need to remove the 2 big screw in covers on top of the head. One has the intake valves under it and the other has the exhuast. (oppsite sides of the head) Once you have these off, you will see on the end of the rockers, there is a straight sloted set screw with a lock nut. Just loosen up the nut and adjust the set screw.
