Painting stock exhaust??
#1
I am wondering if anyone knows if you can paint your exhaust pipes with a high heat paint. My stock exhaust is starting to rust and is looking bad. So if anyone has done this or knows anything about it let me know. And would painting it cause it to hold in more heat? Thanks for any replies!

i did it on my old polaris, i used car header paint, and it burnt up a little on the point where the exhaust enters and exits the pipe, idk you might be able to see it in my pics, but others wise it held up pretty good!!

i painted my header silver, same as my silencer, if i were you i would use 1200 degrees or higher and dont do more then 4 or 5 coats!

I don't know why but it seems to help the paint a little if you heat the metal up some before spraying. Just leave it setting in the sun or use a hair dried, it just needs to be fairly warm but not to hot to touch.

not a bad idea, ive painted mine twice..the first time i used 900 degrees and within 5 minutes of riding it, it got over 900 degrees and right as i shut it down all the header paint game off in flakes when i touched it. So that P!ssed me off a bit cuz i had to take it back off again the following night when i got the new paint. so make sure u use 1200 and up.
