Default scrambler starter removal

What is the trick to get a starter off of a 1999 scrambler 400. I removed the cable, and the 2 bolts that hold the starter to the mounting bracket on the clutch side. I loosened the long bolt that goes thru pull rope cover. I tried to remove the starter and it don't want to budge. I took a wooden handled hammer and tried to pry it away from the flywheel housing but it did not move. I don't want to force it because I don't want to crack the case. Any suggestions.

You actually have to remove the recoil starter and inside that case there are two bolts that hold the starter to the crankcase. Pull those two and the ones you have and it should come right off.
