tranny from 400(99) work in a 500(01)??????

Default tranny from 400(99) work in a 500(01)??????

my brother has both cases in his broken, and im curious if anyone knows will a tranny from a 1999 scrammy 400 4x4 work in a 2001 scrammy 500 4x4 do you have to make any mods or will it bolts right up????
thanks for your help....

I dont know for sure but he part numbers are differant.

i know the part # are dif. but i cant imagine they would have the same # over 3 years anyhow....hopefully someone will have knowledge if you can......thanks

Default tranny from 400(99) work in a 500(01)??????

The actual outside case is the same. It will bolt right up. The only difference is the internal gear sizes in the 500 is a little bigger than the 400 gear. aAs an examplet he 400 main gear is like a 95t and the 500 main gear is a 98t.

Default tranny from 400(99) work in a 500(01)??????

there are 2 styles made in 99 and 2 in 01. in 99 thy had one style with the shifter switch made in to the case, the other is on the shifter itself. some other parts are different as well. the 01's are different internally and the parts will not interchange. the cases are made different to accept only these parts. the 01's have different shafts going to the front drive shaft and will not swap with earlier cases. however, if the switch is made in the case they should bolt in the frame the same, and as noted the ratios are different.
