Why were you bidding in the first place on a quad that was in your shed?

First off let me say I'm not all the impressed with someone bidding on a buddy or family members auction to drive the price up. If you want it thats another thing.

That said, I've got the same problem. I bided on ClutchOlds' Raptor 1000 that didnt make its reserve. I've gotten bogus second chance offers from 2 different members, neither of which were Clutch. One looked very official, except for the fact that you'd have to be an idiot to fall for it.

These scammers are dispicable but they arent going away. Ebay doesnt care, but they should. When people experience or hear about scams like this they refrain from buying big items on ebay, and that means a lot less revenue.

good one. anyway, I have a ebay situation right now as well. if you dont me posting on your post sam. I have some helmet to helmet comunicators on ebay. some guy emails me and asks me if I will take a certain amount of money for them today. he claims he does not want to wait for the auction to end, as he allways looses. anway, leaves me his cell number also. so I dont know what to think at this point. his number is a town about 100 miles from me. I crossed refernced it on the white paiges. also he has pretty decent feed back on ebay. what should I do? never had a problem before. its one of those to good to be true things I geuss. I would never let something go without funding. but is there someway they can retract funding from a bank acount or paypal?

Bus, if you feel this guy is genuine, you could always end your auction early and relist the item with a buy it now price. Ask him if this would be acceptable, you will find out real quick if its a scam if he does not want to do a buy it now auction.

If you end your auction early and sell the item outside of an eBay auction and he scams you, then you have no way of leaving him negative feedback on eBay. This could be how he has a good feedback on eBay.

eBay does offer some scam protection, but it seems a lot of people get scammed out side of eBay such as with this second chance letter.
