I dont think many posters thought that you might want it yourself. Regardless, thank you for bringing this scam to the forum's attention. I've only seen one similar post and the member wasnt very clear on what the scammer was doing. I didnt bother to start a thread on my experience lately, but I'm glad you took the effort.

Thanks Maddog56,Mudnuri I guess its just natural for people to think the worst first. The ATV went for $3100 and I stooped bidding at $2200, so If I was trying to help him inflate the price I would of went higher than that. It was a nice Quad but I wasn't gona give top dollar. my bro in law was cool about it he just wanted as much as he could for it.I don't blame him I would to. He stores it In my shed cuz he doesnt have any room were he's at now. I just would of kicked my self in the a$$ if it went for $2200 and It wasn't my bid shipping to get it would of been cheep!!

busmachanic I get those offers all the time. People will email me wanting me to end the auction early for them. They use all kind of excusses like nobody has bid on it yet so if you end it early I'll give you this much but it's your only chance. Or they claim they can't wait till the end of the auction for some reason. I always tell them the item will go to the highest bidder. If it does not sell it will be relisted. I figure if they want it they can bid, thats why I listed in the first place. Don't end the auction for the dude, if he want's it bad enough he needs to bid high enough to win it.

I hear ya ODP. when I talked to the guy, I told him I did not like the situation. and so I added a buy it now option. wich he promply jumped on. and then payed through paypal. I was also suspitious because of the rather generous offer. like more than new price. even though I posted in my item description what I paid for them new. allthough, now the item sales for way more than what I paid for them. after thinking it through. I would not end a auction early to sell to someone on the side. unless they were responding to a local ad. but I see no harm in adding the buy it now option for someone who really wants the item. ebay still gets there cut. you get what need. everybody's happy
