oil overflow tube?
#1
from the oil tank on a ds 650 there is an over flow tube that runs along and near the carb correct? does this tube have any place to be or just vented to atmosphere ? the reason im asking such a dumb question is the guy i bought my current ds from had it routed to the carb overflow (tm45) on the bottom of the bowl. is it supposed to b there?

well I have a 2002 and my line from my tank goes back behind the jugg and goes into the line where the oil line goes into the motor, self bleeding, maybe he has a newer oil tank on or something, if it was me I wouldnt put it to my carb overflow cause if ti overflows gas might make it up to your oil tank, just my .02

If your talking about the overflow tube that connects to the oil tank at the neck of the oil fill. That oil line connects to the top of your valve cover if you have a 2001 or newer DS. If you have a 2000 DS they didn't have this yet. But you may have a 2001 oil tank??? If your valve cover is from a 2000 year DS then just plug the line or buy a 2001 valve cover.
This was installed on the 2001 and newer DS's in the event of a roll over. You get oil to the top end and keeps the motor from locking up.
edit:
Actually now that i think about it. The one Jackass is talking about is the one that the 2000 DS didn't have yet. There is a little fitting that screws into the brass fitting behind the jug that, that line connects to.
