Default 800's with a winch and brush guard. I am looking for install hints..

Before I install my new winch and brush guard. I was wondering if any of you guys may have some hints for me. I know when my brother and I did his on his 04.5 700 we had a tough time, and kept taking stuff back off that we put on.

Use all Grade 8 bolts ... some brush guards come with grade 5 bolts ... replace them with Grade 8.

Fairly easy install. Did you buy the polaris winch setup that is made for the prewired unit? That will make it alittle easier. As far as the brushguard, pay attention to where it mounts, the instructions suck and doesn't say the right holes, but you can easily figure it out when you put it up to your machine, it will line up with certain holes. I don't remember what is wrong in the instructions, but I think it says the wrong lower hole, its opposite of what it says....you will see when you to install.

If you want to see some pics of my mounts, look here:

brushguard/winch

look in this directory and you will see various pics, click on any pic to enlarge....click on 'all' near bottom of page to see all pics:

cool thanks. Yea. My brothers instructions sucked as well. That is why I was asking....I did get the prewired polaris winch. It was part of the deal for $50

I have another question for you elkbow? Are those the new Mudlites that are supposed to be a cross between 589's and normal mudlites? They look it....How do you like the mudlites compared to the 589's? My brother is looking at getting a new set of wheels, but currently the new mudlites are the only tire that fits the rim. Because of the size. they are 14's not 12's. He origonally wanted the 589's, but after seeing the mudlites they look to be pretty good. I have an older set of mudlites on my sport quad. I like them. I just didn't know what the lug depth was like for the bigger ute tire.

Thanks

Ohhh Nice AR15('s)real nice....

Those are the standard mudlites. The new Mudlite is the Mud Lite XTR Radial. I wouldn't say its a cross, its more of a radial Mud Lite with more squared tread pattern.

Here is a pic of the new Mud Lite XTR: XTR

Also remember, what I have seen, the XTR uses 14" wheels, not the standard 12".

oops...correction, just looked at ITPs site, they have the XTR in standard 12" wheels, their new release in the 14" wheeled tire...now that would be sweet....

I like both of the tires, all-around its hard to call, but I'd go with the mud lites....the 589s ride really well on the trail also, the 589s do alittle better in the mud...

elkbow,,

I have an 800 and looking to put a 3.0ce on her. was looking at some of the cheaper non-prewired winches that are almost $200 cheaper..I am skilled at welding and fabricating and wondering if you think this would be a problem.?? i think i remember reading at some forum that the prewired package winch just includes the '05 800 mounting bracket.. is this the only thing different w/ polaris/warn prewire as opposed to the plain warn 3.0 atv winch?? any help would be great..thanks

spanky
