there will be a ATV 4-hour team race at the starvation ridge motorsports facility, outside of Goldendale, Wa on May 1st. the track will be a 10-15 mile loop, depending on how they set it up.

classes: pro, expert, amature, beginner, utility, women, youth(?), Ironman
all classes exept pro & expert are alowed 4 team members, and up to 4 quads for the team. pro & expert classes are allowed 2 team members & 2 quads per team, ironman... 1 rider, 1 machine.

How tough are these tracks on rookies,I've been thinking about trying it.39 yrs old is a little late in the game,but it sounds like alot of fun.The bones won't heel like they used too.Would a Raptor 350 have any chance at all of being competitive.It's all stock except for pipe/filter.I know it would need susp. work.

 

there is nothing on the track at startvation ridge that the raptor 350 can't handle with ease. there are lots of corners & straights with chicanes in them, some slightly technical spots if you're going really fast, but nothing outrageous. i've seen plenty of riders on stock quads do very well in these races... it's more about rider than machine in these events.

 

i rode the track this weekend both saturday & sunday. the track is more technical than i remembered, but still not too tough for a beginner. there are a number of spots that can get a rider hurt if they ride above thier skill level. the dust can be bad(it was today), and the track will be rough. the dust was the major cause of guys eatin' dirt hard...

 

As I thought my plate couldnt be any fuller on May first. LOL.

1). Weekend group Ride with PSAR group at the dunes (Florence) we have planned all year long.
2). ATV expo on May 1st at Portland Expo center. Got to be there for a story coverage and photos.
3). Mom singing in her first concert at 4pm, combined with fact that its mom and pops anniversary.
4). Team race at Goldendale. I wanted to race in the next one! What a Mayday!

i thought i bring this back up to the top...

just a note, one rider in the youth class rides a blaster, she was able to run 3 laps w/o mishaps, given she is probly more careful than some of us that go to our limit & sometimes past... but just the same, be at the riders meeting, they will describe the parts that can be dangerous, and don't ride into a cloud of dust too fast, the track may change directions suddenly, and put you on your noggin hard, slice you up in a fence, or crunch on you with a boulder.
