Default pump gas or cam2

if u change to cam2 instead of pump gas, do u usually want bigger jets or smaller jets?

it should not really affect your jetting, but you will want to reset your float level. It does burn slower so it can give the affect of being richer.

Reset your float level?

Don't waste your money on race fuel unless you are highly modded.

if your not jetted for it it won't make any more hp might make less .unless your running a 13.1 piston or higher i would stick to 93 octane, your just wasteing money on race gas.

First off which kind of Cam2 are you using? Cam 2 is the generic name for Sunoco's line of racing fuels. Some are leaded, some are oxygenated, and octane levels range from 100 and 104 UL all the way up to 110, 112, and 116 L. You need to find out what you are using before you try to rejet.

There are only 2 ways to make more power from using the Cam 2 fuels: One way is to use an oxygenated fuel, in which case you will need to richen your mixture. The only other way is if your engine is detonating right now because the octane you currently use is too low for your compression ratio. Which should not be the case on a bike with a stock piston.

thanx maddog. i am currently running cam2 turbo blue in my blaster right now but it has everything on it and it makes way more horsepower when i run the race fuel. now i did not jet this, i bought this race ready. and now i am planning on getting a dvx400 and buy some extras...a jet kit in particular. i will have no air box on a bigger intake. so i figure i will already have to go up in jet size and if i do, i was also considering race fuel. if this does make any horsepower difference i want to run the turbo blue instead of pump gas. let me know if this will make no more horsepower and if it is true that it can actually make less horsepower. but if it does make more when running it compared to ethanol....let me know about if i should run a bigger jet than pump gas or smaller.

Yes the float level, generally race fuel has a diffrent weight then regular pump gas and your float level will change to either too high or too low. And the race fuel it's self will not give you more power or less power, it helps the motor run cooler because of the burn rate which is slower. The higher the octane the slower the burn, thats why you should run higher compression with race fuel or you are waisting money. The idea is to run the lowest octane fuel possible without causing detonation or excessive heat. I am at 5000 feet so I can run 91 pump gas on a 12:1 piston and it still runs cool and does not detonate, if I go to california to ride I will need to run race fuel and richen it way up, because I will gain about 20 Psi of compression just by going to sea level.
