Default Have you ever lost oil pressure?

I'm just trying to understand why so many DS owners put oil pressure guages on their DS. Yes the stock sensors are crap and can give faulty readings but has anyone ever felt that their oil pressure guage has saved them? I have yet to hear of any problems with the DS in maintaining proper oil pressure.

I rolled my bike going down a hill in the winter once. Took a minutes to get it turned over again. When I fired it back up the red light was on and the engine was noisy. I had to take out the oil filter and crack the bleeder screw to get the oil pressure back.
No other problems as far as I know !!!

Over Easter weekend at Dumont I drag raced the hill over and over and over again aginst Al's Sand Pig and others. My oil got so hot the presure at idle went down to 10lbs. I parked her and let her cool down. When I did the oil pressure was 25lbs at idle and time to race again. It also told me that it's that time of year again for me to go from 10/40 to 20/50. If I had waited for the idiot light to come on before I let her cool off my weekend would have been over.
