hey whats up. I have a 2001 400ex. Only engine mods on it is the air filter.. thats it. I just got this quad about a month ago, and there is a pinging in the engine. I brought it over to the dealer to have the stock pipe put back on since where we are going to ride, it cant be loud. I just noticed a pinging in the engine when i rev it... The dealer filled it up with fuel so do you think they filled it up with regular unleaded? It calls for premimum. I know if you use the wrong type of fuel in a car the engine stars to ping. Do you think that is it? Any help would be great. Thanks

 

you might need a valve adjustment..........

well it only does it when i rev... its not very loud but i can hear it if i stand close to it...

 

Honda 400ex engines tend to make a ping noise. My 05' does it [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] with only 30 hours on it.

mine does that only when i have sh!tty gas in it....try putting 93 octane and buy some octane booster put couple drops or so in your tank see if that works
