handlebar grips: yes or no?
#1
I am looking at a pair of FMF 909 MX Ergo grips for my Trailblazer 250. I found a pair of nice ones on Rockymountainatv.com for $13.50. My question is if I already have a pair of riding gloves, how beneficial would it be for me to get the grips? Will it make a noticeable difference in comfort? After I went riding last weekend, the next day my hands ached. I am just wondering if changing the grips will help. Thanks

Only reason I like to change grips is because the stockers get black all over my hands, whereas the colored grips don't. Can't say they are more comfortable though.
Once you ride a while a loosen up, I don't think your hands will hurt as bad. I would guess you're just a little tense.

I think grips are pretty important.
Yea you can ride with any grip, but some people prefer certain models over others. And it can indeed make a big difference in how your hands feel after a long or agressive ride.
Of course it's all a matter of personal preference as to which ones are going to work best for you.
The factory 909 grips you speak of are very nice grips, I had a set of them on my Warrior when I bought it. Now I have a set of Scott Hurricane grips on there.
In comparison I think the 909s are a much better grip for me. I like the soft gel on the palm. The Scott are much harder, but they are rock solid. The 909s had a tendency to "shift" on me during agressive riding, which I corrected with some mechanics wire.
I think the key with grips are to keep them fresh. Most guys I know leave grips on for way too long. There is a reason they only cost 15-bucks, they don't last that long. After a while they all break down, especially if you ride agressive at all, and wear a top quality pair of gloves.

Something I found that works really well is Grab-on bicycle grips.Real comfortable, they have a lot of grip.I have about 6-8 rides on them with no problems.Gloves don't chew them up either.Just a thought though, only 3 bucks.Hands don't hurt after riding, they are fat with alot of grip surface.Only set back would be if you dumped it,you might rip them right off.
